Some Venezuelans living overseas are rejoicing after the US announced that it had seized the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, on Saturday. The video depicts people dancing, chanting, and singing in Doral, Florida, and Santiago, Chile.
People gathered outside the El Arepazo restaurant in Doral, carrying the Venezuelan flag and placards reading “Make Venezuela Great Again” and singing the national anthem.
“Today, justice is being served,” Kirvin Suarez, a Venezuelan community leader, told Reuters. “Justice is being served for all Venezuelans who left our nation to show who we are. We are fighters, entrepreneurs, and good people who want to return to our country and rebuild, move ahead, and continue to be the force we have always been. Long live Venezuela.”
Another community member lauded the news, stating, “This marks the beginning of the end of Venezuela’s dictatorship.”
“I am very happy about everything that has happened,” Daniel Victorio told Reuters, before thanking US President Donald Trump.
