President John Dramani Mahama has presented 100 pickup trucks to the Ghana Police Service (GPS) as part of a larger initiative to improve public safety and law enforcement operations throughout the nation.
The first batch of several vehicles planned for the Police Service is represented in the presentation. The pickups are essential operational resources necessary to enhance police efficiency across the country, not ceremonial additions, according to President Mahama.
At the Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, January 8, the President stated, “These 100 pickups are the first batch of several pickups that we shall be presenting to the Police Service.”
These are essential to our operations. They will increase police visibility across the country, improve patrols, cut down on response times, and broaden law enforcement to difficult-to-reach regions.
He said that the cars will help officers respond to emergencies more effectively and work more safely, especially in rural and underserved areas.
“In layman’s terms, they will be able to get the police to where they are needed more quickly and safely,” said President Mahama.
Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the Inspector General of Police, thanked the President profusely and reiterated the Police Service’s dedication to protecting and making good use of its resources.
“On behalf of the Ghana Police Service, I would like to offer you my sincere gratitude,” the IGP stated. “We pledge to you our allegiance and our dedication to safeguarding these resources, utilizing them effectively, and employing them tirelessly in the cause of peace, security, and national stability.”
IGP Yohuno also reassured that the Ghana Police Service is still dedicated to carrying out its duties in the advancement and improvement of the country.
“As we move forward, the Ghana Police stands to do its part in the national reset, firm in law enforcement, conduct, and in the defence of our nation,” he said.
