Thirty Four injured on Accra–Kumasi highway accident.

At least 34 people have been injured after a passenger bus crashed at Asuboi on the Accra–Kumasi Highway in the early hours of Saturday.

The accident involved a 34-seater KIA Grandbird bus, which overturned and landed on its side in the middle of the road, briefly disrupting traffic on one of Ghana’s busiest highways.

The Suhum Municipal Fire Station said it received a distress call at about 02:55 and deployed a seven-member rescue team to the scene.

Firefighters found the driver trapped inside the wreckage, while other passengers had already been assisted by residents and first responders. Using specialised equipment, the rescue team freed the driver, who sustained serious injuries.

The remaining passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment. Health officials said all those injured were responding to treatment and that no deaths were recorded.

The bus sustained extensive damage, particularly at the front. The cause of the accident has not yet been established.

Fire officers later cleared debris from the highway and secured the area before leaving the scene shortly before 05:00.
