Voting is under way across Ghana as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds its presidential primaries to select a flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
Five candidates are contesting the race: former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Education Minister Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Agriculture Minister Dr Bryan Acheampong, and the party’s former General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong.
More than 200,000 delegates are expected to cast their ballots across 277 constituencies nationwide.
The outcome of the vote will determine who leads the governing party into the next presidential election.
Polling is taking place at designated centres, with party officials overseeing the process. Observers say the contest is one of the most competitive in the party’s recent history.
