Latif “Latz” Ayodele and Sina Ghami died in Ogun State, Nigeria, on 29th December 2025 when their SUV, which was also carrying British heavyweight boxing superstar Anthony Joshua, got involved in a crash.

British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua has paid an emotional tribute to his close friends, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, who died in a tragic car accident near Lagos, Nigeria.

Joshua, who recently returned to the United Kingdom after attending their funerals, is currently recovering from minor injuries he sustained in the crash.

In a post shared on his official Instagram page on January 8, 2026, the former two-time unified heavyweight champion expressed deep sorrow over their loss, describing the deceased as brothers whose true significance he only came to fully appreciate after their passing.

Joshua reflected on the moments they shared together, noting that he often spent time joking with them without realizing how fortunate he was to be in the company of people he described as great men.

He admitted that the loss has been extremely difficult for him, while acknowledging that the pain experienced by their families is far greater. Joshua said his faith has helped him cope, expressing belief that God understands their hearts and praying for mercy for his departed friends.

The heartfelt tribute prompted an outpouring of sympathy and support from fans, fellow athletes, and public figures, many of whom commended Joshua for his honesty and emotional strength during such a challenging time.

Despite the tragedy, Joshua’s message conveyed faith, gratitude, and compassion, offering comfort to himself and to the families mourning the loss.

The fatal accident occurred on December 29 in Ogun State near Lagos, when a Lexus SUV carrying Joshua and his friends reportedly crashed into a stationary truck. While Joshua survived with injuries, Ghami and Ayodele lost their lives.
