Cocaine packaged Gari captured at KIA.

Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) agents arrested a senior manager of a manufacturing company for reportedly attempting to smuggle cocaine out of the nation. The suspect, whose identity has not yet been officially released, is said to have hidden the contraband in a shipment of packaged gari—dried cassava flakes—destined for transportation.

The arrest happened at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) after a highly coordinated intelligence-led operation. According to KIA sources who spoke with Graphic Online, the suspect is thought to be the production manager at the manufacturing company.

According to authorities, enquiries are underway to uncover all of the circumstances surrounding the intended shipment and to determine whether other individuals are linked to the alleged drug network.
