
Police in Walewale have opened a collaborative inquiry with their counterparts in Bolgatanga after a deadly assault on a bus and a police barrier between Karimenga and Pwulugu in the Upper East Region.
Unidentified assailants murdered a police officer, General Constable Oppong Damoah Seth, during the event, which happened at roughly 11:30 p. m. on Sunday, December 28, at the Karimenga Police Checkpoint. Two more officers were critically wounded.
According to police sources, the attackers first attacked a bus in the area, prompting a emergency call. According to sources, police officers who responded to the call were able to prevent the assault, compelling the attackers to flee into the surrounding woods.
The perpetrators subsequently rallied and returned to conduct a second attack on the Karimenga Police barricade.
General Constable Oppong Damoah Seth was shot in the head from behind during the resumed assault, killing him immediately. Two other officers who retaliated were shot in the legs.
The wounded officers are being treated at an undisclosed hospital.
