Following his imminent transfer from Bournemouth to Manchester City, Ghanaian attacker Antoine Semenyo is in line for a big pay increase. According to reports, his salary will more than double once the transaction is finalized.

Having agreed to abide by the £65 million release clause that must be triggered by January 10, Manchester City is now in a position to sign the 26-year-old winger. With Semenyo scheduled to have a medical after Bournemouth’s Premier League match against Tottenham, the transfer is anticipated to be completed before the weekend.

According to The Guardian’s report on December 30, Semenyo will be eligible for a base salary of about £150,000 per week, not including performance-related incentives, on a possible five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium. The city’s position as one of the Premier League’s highest-paying teams is reflected in that sum, which is a considerable increase over his current salary at Bournemouth.

Stefan Borson, a former financial counsellor for Manchester City, believes that when bonuses are taken into account, the Ghana international’s overall weekly earnings may approach £200,000.

In an interview with Football Insider, Borson stated: “Well, the news has been a little weird because it has said that that’s his base and includes his motivations, which is impossible.”

“I mean, with City at this point, I think the reality is that I would anticipate him to be on a basic salary of £150,000. The average all-in at City right now is probably between £200 and £225 thousand, or thereabouts.

“If he’s playing and City are performing well on the pitch, I think he’ll expect to be on £200k a week, £10m a year.”

Given City’s wage commitments in recent seasons, Borson noted that such numbers are realistic due to the club’s salary system.

“I believe you should operate under the premise that a player signed for £65m at City will be earning £200k every week as a package, which includes some rather basic incentives,” he stated.

“The kinds of items that he would expect as a minimum to be earning inside of that, not his base salary. “

“Obviously, we don’t know, but it’s implied that City’s total wage bill must be about that kind of level if you consider it as a whole. ”

Although City’s total salary bill decreased somewhat from £412. 6 million to £408. 4 million the previous season, they have consistently been among the highest wage spenders in the Premier League.

According to reports, Semenyo has made it clear that he prefers to join Pep Guardiola’s team despite interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham. City are the only team to have officially contacted Bournemouth, which has improved their standing in the competition.

Despite growing rumours over his future, the winger played for Bournemouth in their 3-2 loss to Arsenal on January 3. Although Semenyo’s departure may be imminent, his manager, Andoni Iraola, emphasized that nothing has been finalized.

“I think it might be the last game,” Iraola stated in advance of the Spurs game.
“I think that’s my own opinion, but nothing has been agreed upon or signed. ” As I comprehend the market and the noise, it’s just my own perspective, but there’s no consensus at the moment.
“At the moment, he is our player, and I hope that will remain the case.”

The Ghana international, whom Iraola also called “almost impossible to replace”, highlights his significance to the Cherries. With 10 goals and 3 assists in 20 games across all competitions, Semenyo has been in excellent form this season. Even if he will still be behind the club’s top earners, he will be one of the highest-paid Ghanaian footballers in history and Manchester City’s joint fifth most expensive acquisition if the transfer goes through.
