Final year Mfantsipim student found dead in North Ola.

The Central Regional Police Command has confirmed that a 17-year-old final-year student at Mfantsipim Senior High School in Cape Coast committed suicide.

Master Emmanuel Arthur, the deceased, was a candidate who was preparing to sit the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) this year. His body was discovered in an unfinished home in Ola North, a residential suburb within the Cape Coast metropolis, after a carpenter working nearby alerted police.

According to police officials, officers arrived at the scene on June 11, 2026, and performed a comprehensive examination of the vicinity.

Investigators retrieved a black backpack holding academic materials, including a Geography Paper 1 mock test paper with the name Emmanuel Arthur on it, two mobile phones, an Android gadget, and a basic phone, as well as other personal things.

Investigators contacted officials at Mfantsipim Senior High School, who then confirmed that the deceased was a final-year student.

Police believe the student committed suicide. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear.

When the body was discovered, it had been there for some time and was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

Following an examination by a pathologist at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, the remains were given to the family, who made funeral preparations as soon as they received custody of the body.

The unfinished structure was subsequently cleaned as part of health and safety precautions.

The family of the deceased has been notified, and investigations are ongoing.
