UCC dead student’s family debunks rumors of bodily mutilation.

The family of Innocentia Atsufui Avinu, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) student whose body was found at Hutchland Beach, has vehemently denied rumours that her organs were removed.

In a statement issued on June 14, 2026, it referred to the reports as false.

The family unequivocally condemns and rejects the malicious reports spread by some bloggers and internet sites saying that our daughter’s body parts were taken.

The family finds these allegations to be extremely hurtful, fabricated, and completely untrue. It pleaded with the general public to completely ignore them.

The family also urges the public to refrain from circulating photos of the departed.

To stop sharing, forwarding, or publishing photographs of Innocentia’s corpse ashore, we make an urgent plea to the public, social media users, and student communities. The statement said, “We demand that you delete such files right away to save our sorrowing family from more trauma and give her the honour she merits.

Furthermore, the family said that an investigation into the incident is still underway.

Her sad death is being investigated by the Ghana Police Service in order to determine the precise circumstances surrounding it. To ensure that truth and justice are obtained, the family is working with law enforcement in every way possible.

Additionally, they expressed gratitude for the public’s backing.

It further said that it would like to express its sincere gratitude to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) administration, the student body, friends, and the general public for their tremendous support, condolences, and prayers that have been sent to us since this tragedy.
