Following the sad death of one of its students, Mr. Ransford Amankwah Asomani, a second-year BSc Agribusiness Management student, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is in mourning.
The institution stated in a statement released on Monday, February 9, that Mr. Asomani died after falling from the second level of an off-campus hostel in Ayeduase in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Colleagues quickly transported him to the KNUST Hospital with help from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team. Despite these efforts, he was unfortunately declared dead on arrival.
The institution has verified that Mr. Asomani’s parents have been notified, and his remains are currently kept at the hospital mortuary while an autopsy is performed to ascertain the exact cause of death.
KNUST administration conveyed great regret over the incident and offered sincere sympathies to the deceased student’s family and the wider university community, calling it a tragic loss.
In response, the KNUST Police, in collaboration with the university’s security department, have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. The institution has guaranteed the public and media that information will be given as soon as all of the details are confirmed.
KNUST reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to the safety, security, and well-being of all students and personnel, emphasising the need to establish a safe academic atmosphere.
