Six private security guards have been taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service in connection with a gunshot incident that involved Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, and that took place on June 21, 2026, in Kwabenya. Ghana information
A subsequent search, according to a police statement, resulted in the finding of five pump-action weapons, one Taurus handgun with seven rounds of 9mm ammo, an additional magazine with five rounds of 9mm ammunition, and communication devices. According to early investigations, intelligence and national operations department staff members who were on special assignment answered a distress call from a home in Kwabenya and went to the location.
According to police, a ceremony was taking place at the residence of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena, when Adwoa Safo allegedly showed up and requested entry to the premises but was turned away.
Additionally, investigations showed that the shooting incident caused Adwoa Safo to sustain injuries, allegedly at the hands of armed security personnel who were stationed at the home. According to rumours, her car also had numerous bullet holes.
To help with continuing investigations, the suspects, along with the recovered weapons and other exhibits, have been relocated to police headquarters.
The Police Service added that investigations are continuing and that efforts are underway to find and arrest other people who are thought to be linked to the event.
