Automobile dealers Association of Ghana announces a 15% reduction in sales.

The Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) has announced an average 15 per cent reduction in vehicle prices nationwide, effective immediately. In a statement issued on Saturday, the Union said the move follows the recent stabilisation of the Ghana cedi against the US dollar, as well as the government’s decision to abolish the Covid-19 levy.

ADUG says the price cut fulfils a long-standing commitment to pass on the benefits of exchange rate stability to consumers. The union stressed that its members are acting in good faith and with what it described as a strong sense of national responsibility, rather than seeking to maximise profits.

Vehicle prices in Ghana have been under pressure in recent months due to currency volatility, high import duties, shipping costs, and global supply chain disruptions. The Union says improved consistency in the foreign exchange market has now created room for downward price adjustments.

The reductions apply to a broad range of vehicles, including brand-new, hybrid, electric, and second-hand models. The statement, signed by ADUG National President Eric Kwaku Boateng, thanked consumers for their patience and reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to protecting both consumer interests and the wider national economy.
