UCC student dies in a motor accident on campus in a last ditch effort to retrieve student’s ID.

Reports from the University of Cape Coast indicate that a level 200 Bachelor of Commerce student and an affiliate of Ogua Hall has died following a tragic motor accident that occurred yesterday along the Norman Bus Terminal on the Shatta Wale route. The incident happened in the afternoon of Thursday, 5th March 2026, c. 2pm.

It is widely reported that Caleb, who had a paper at 3:30 PM at the SWLT block (referred to as Shatta Wale), had to return to his hall of residence, Oguaa, to pick up his student ID card, which would enable him to be verified to write the exams at the afore-stated venue and time.

He took a motorbike to facilitate his transport to the hall and back to the centre. While the bike was in motion, it dropped an item, so the driver of the motorbike turned back to retrieve it. They hit a pothole in the process; the impact instantly threw him off the bike and onto the path of an oncoming Ayalolo Campus Shuttle, which, unfortunately, ran him over.

He was quickly rushed to the hospital for resuscitation but passed away sometime later in the day.

As we await the confirmation of the official story from the university authorities, we extend our condolences to his family, colleagues, friends, and the entire UCC community in this difficult moment.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
