Two women in police custody over alleged assault of 12-year-old girl at La

Two women have been detained by the Accra Regional Police Command in connection with the alleged attack on a 12-year-old girl in the La Roman JHS School neighborhood. The incident happened on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.

The victim’s mother brought her daughter to the station with obvious signs of abuse, at which time she reported the incident to the authorities, according to police. The complainant said that her daughter was assaulted by three women without cause.

According to a police statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the Greater Accra Head of Public Affairs, preliminary investigations showed that earlier in the day, the girl had a little dispute with Horm Giftan Mesopeh, a seven-year-old boy who is connected to the suspects. According to reports, the women brought the victim to their home after the incident and physically attacked her there.

Two suspects, 22-year-old Precious Giftan Mesopeh and 25-year-old Princess Giftan Mesopeh, were taken into custody and formally accused on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. They are presently in police custody and are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The third suspect, Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, 49, a fashion designer and the mother of the two women who were taken into custody, is thought to have gone to the Volta Region. Police revealed that efforts to find her are still being made.

Parents, guardians, and community members were urged by the Accra Regional Police Command to seek legitimate remedies for their complaints and refrain from using violence to settle disputes, especially those involving youngsters.

“The Command also urges the public to always respect the law and safeguard the rights and welfare of children,” the statement came to a conclusion.
