According to Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the opposing New Patriotic Party (NPP), a large number of party members agree with the opinions voiced by former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, on the party’s present condition.
His statement was a reaction to Professor Frimpong-Boateng’s assertion that the current version of the NPP no longer upholds the ideals and beliefs upon which it was established.
On Tuesday, January 13, Dr. Nyaho-Tamekloe responded to the remarks on JoyNews’ The Pulse by seemingly agreeing with the former minister, calling them a reflection of the party’s overall sentiment
Frimpong-Boateng has come to have similar opinions, and many others share them, perhaps without realising it. Following Prof. Boateng’s revelation, the NPP, according to the media, has initiated the official procedures necessary to remove the former minister.
The NPP said in a statement signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, that it had taken “due notice” of comments made by Prof. Frimpong-Boateng on Channel One TV on Monday, January 12, 2026, when he publicly stated that he no longer considers himself a member of the party.
However, Dr Nyaho-Tamekloe cautioned that if the party leadership chooses to fire Professor Frimpong-Boateng for his statements, it should be ready to take similar action against many others, as many members also share the view that the party is slowly disintegrating.
I am told that the entire procedure is underway and that they will shortly fire many members of the party if they are going to replace Frimpong-Boateng, he said.
