Kibi: Police arrest five suspects impersonating NAIMOS officials.

 

Five men have been detained by the Eastern South Regional Police Command for reportedly posing as personnel from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS).On Friday, January 2, 2026, the following suspects were arrested: Moses Tapiam, 43; Christopher Amakor, 29; Casimir Nunekpeku, 29; Wisdom Miwonuko, 35; and Paul Agbanu, 53. While wearing security uniforms, they reportedly extorted money from miners at mining locations in Akwadum, Abuakwa South, close to Kibi.

They were apprehended in a Mitsubishi 4×4 pickup with license plate GS 536–25, by NAIMOS officers who handed  them over to the Eastern South Regional CID in Kibi.

The public has been warned by the police that posing as a security guard is against the law, and residents have been reassured that anybody who does so will be arrested and prosecuted.
The five suspects are still being held by the police while they help with the inquiry, and their arraignment is anticipated to occur soon.
