COCOBOD working on solutions to support struggling cocoa farmers-Dr Randy Abbey.

Ghana’s cocoa regulator says it is urgently exploring measures to support farmers facing mounting economic pressures.

The Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Dr Randy Abbey, said producers are grappling with rising production costs, climate-related risks and funding challenges that have affected incomes and output.

He said COCOBOD is engaging government and industry stakeholders to develop interventions aimed at improving farmer welfare and strengthening the long-term sustainability of the sector.

While no timeline has been announced, Dr Abbey stressed that addressing the difficulties confronting farmers remains a top priority.

Cocoa remains one of Ghana’s leading export earners, with analysts suggesting that any new measures could focus on improved financing, productivity support, and efforts to stabilise the industry.
