The Confederation of African Football has strongly condemned what it calls “unacceptable behaviour” by players and officials during the Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Morocco in Rabat.
In a statement issued on Monday, CAF said it was reviewing all available footage from the match and would refer the matter to its disciplinary bodies for action against those found responsible.
The final of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 was marred by tense scenes late in the game, following controversial decisions, including a stoppage-time penalty awarded to Morocco.
Senegal’s players briefly walked off the pitch in protest, causing a delay before the match resumed.
The game, which was goalless after normal time, went into extra time, where Senegal scored to win one-nil and secure the title.
CAF did not name individuals in its statement but said any inappropriate conduct, particularly behaviour directed at referees or match organisers, would not be tolerated.
The governing body says possible sanctions could include fines or suspensions, depending on the outcome of the disciplinary process.
