Following his £65 million transfer to Manchester City during the current transfer window, Ghanaian international Antoine Semenyo has broken the transfer record at AFC Bournemouth.

With the quick attacker signing a five-and-a-half-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031, the Premier League football behemoth caused Semenyo’s release clause to be activated.
After finishing his required medical on Thursday morning, the day after playing for Bournemouth against Tottenham Hotspur in what turned out to be his last game for the Cherries, Semenyo signed the contract on Friday morning. This transfer makes the Ghana international the costliest signing in Bournemouth’s history as well as the largest transfer involving a Ghanaian footballer.
“We can confirm that Antoine Semenyo has joined Manchester City for a club-record fee. Ant, everyone at AFC Bournemouth wants you to have the very best, the club stated. Following his arrival at Bournemouth in January 2023, Semenyo swiftly rose to prominence as one of the most feared forwards in the Premier League.
Semenyo was born in London to Ghanaian parents. He began his professional career at Bristol City before being loaned out to Bath City, Newport County, and Sunderland, where he continued to improve his skills.
Bournemouth recognized his promise after making an impression at Ashton Gate, and they signed him halfway through the 2022/23 season, from which point his career has just gotten better and better.
By scoring 10 goals and dishing out three assists in the Premier League this season, Semenyo has cemented his place as one of Bournemouth’s most reliable players, further demonstrating his increasing impact in England’s premier league.
The 25-year-old Ghanaian forward played 110 games for the Cherries during his time in Bournemouth, where he scored 32 goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions. The move represents a significant turning point in Semenyo’s career and highlights the growing influence of Ghanaian players at the highest level of European football.
