Manchester City has agreed to Antoine Semenyo’s €74.5million – Where would the Ghanaian forward play?

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo is on the brink of joining English giants Manchester City for a guaranteed fee of £62.5 million, with potential add-ons of £1.5 million

The possibility of Antoine Semenyo making a big move to Manchester City is growing. It is assumed that everything has been agreed upon and all papers have been exchanged, with Semenyo scheduled for a medical examination this Thursday. Pep Guardiola’s team was prepared to trigger Semenyo’s €74. 5m release clause, which is valid from January 1 to January 10.

Semenyo had been connected to several elite English clubs, but it seems that City will be able to sign him. The Ghanaian international was sought after by Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United, but he preferred to play with Guardiola’s squad. Semenyo is anticipated to sign on with the current champions later this week, assuming that individual terms are agreed upon.

Why Manchester City Desires Semenyo

Given that Man City isn’t lacking in players that can play in wide areas, their apparent eagerness to sign Semenyo may raise some questions. Jérémy Doku has been a standout performer for City in that position this season, while Semenyo has mostly played on the left wing. Furthermore, City acquired Omar Marmoush from Frankfurt in January for €75 million, and either he or Savinho may play in that position.

However, City is certain that Semenyo is a valuable market prospect at a fair price and that he might be crucial to their attempt to capture the Premier League crown. Over the past 18 months, Semenyo has played exceptionally well for Bournemouth, and this season he has contributed 13 goals in the league (10 goals, 3 assists), which is less than only Igor Thiago and Erling Haaland.
