Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Deputy Majority leader & former Dome-Kwabenya MP, allegedly shot.

Sarah Adwoa Safo, the former member of parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, is undergoing medical attention after reportedly being shot at her younger brother Israel Kwadwo Safo’s house on Sunday.

According to those with knowledge of the case, the ex-lawmaker was on the premises when shots were fired in the midst of increasing tensions stemming from a continuing leadership succession battle within the Kristo Asafo movement following Kwadwo Safo’s passing.

Armed men allegedly fired during a meeting supposedly planned to support attempts to appoint Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the late founder’s successor, according to witnesses.

According to unsubstantiated sources, around 15 shots were fired during the occurrence. One of the bullets apparently clipped her close to the neck, according to close friends of Adwoa Safo. She was then transported for medical treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.

Against the background of a mounting argument over the succession plans within the Kristo Asafo family following the passing of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, the event occurs.

Prof. Emeritus Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was a renowned inventor and engineer and the founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission till his death on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Among his children is, notably, Lawyer Adwoa Safo, former Deputy Majority Leader and former MP for Dome Kwabenya. His funeral is scheduled for the 30th and 31st September 2026.

Reportedly, certain family members are opposing efforts to raise Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the head of the organisation, which has led to legal issues surrounding the topic.

On the incident, the Ghana Police Service has not yet made an official announcement. It is anticipated that officials will look into the details of the alleged shooting and determine the truth of the situation.
