Germany has announced her squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 21st May 2026. The German men’s national football team is historically one of the most elite and consistent teams in FIFA World Cup history, having won four World Cup titles (1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014). Tied with Italy, they are second only to Brazil (five titles) in total tournament victories. Germany holds the all-time record for the most World Cup final appearances (8) and the most top-three podium finishes (12).

Following historic back-to-back group-stage exits in 2018 and 2022, head coach Julian Nagelsmann has completely reshaped the team to break their tournament hoodoo. Germany comfortably qualified for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 by topping Group A in UEFA qualifying. Germany are seeking to break the champions’ curse of the FIFA World Cup and get past the group stages for the first time after their 4th triumph in Brazil in 2014.

The headline of Germany’s official 26-man squad announcement is the unretirement of legendary 40-year-old goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who reverses his post-Euro 2024 retirement to anchor the defence.
