Bryan Acheampong’s PC campaign funding not include Kojo Oppong Nkrumah& 5 others-Pius Enam Hadzide.

Pius Enam Hadzide, spokesperson for Abetifi MP and former Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has retracted a previous claim that all New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates received campaign funding for the 2024 general elections.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam programme, Mr Hadzide initially alleged that every candidate in the Eastern Region, including Ofoase-Ayirebi MP Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, received a total of GH¢700,000 in direct support from Dr Acheampong.

However, he later clarified that six candidates, including Mr Nkrumah, did not accept the funding. He said most other candidates in the region received around GH¢1.7 million each through campaign support coordinated by Dr. Acheampong in his role as Eastern Regional Campaign Coordinator.

During a live call-in, Mr. Nkrumah, a former Minister of Information, denied the allegation. “The only money my constituency executives received was the one Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia sent to the regions for campaign purposes. I did not personally take any campaign money from Dr. Bryan Acheampong,” he said.

He added that he personally supported the NPP youth wing in the Eastern Region until election day and cautioned against highlighting monetary support as a campaign strategy, saying it “does not speak well of the New Patriotic Party.”
