JUSAG to strike on January 19 due to unpaid salary arrears.

Judicial service employees across Ghana are set to begin an indefinite nationwide strike on Monday, 19 January, a move that could disrupt court operations across the country.

The action follows the government’s failure to pay eight months of salary arrears owed to judicial staff, according to the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG).

In a formal notice to the National Labour Commission, JUSAG said its members could no longer endure what it described as an “unbearable situation” arising from the state’s failure to meet its financial obligations.

The dispute centres on a 10% base pay increase for 2025, approved by the President for public sector workers, including judicial service employees, and scheduled to take effect from 1 January 2025.

JUSAG says the delay in implementing the increase and settling outstanding arrears has left its members with no option but to withdraw their services.
