Mexico’s 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been announced. The North American nation is hosting the FIFA World Cup after it had hosted it the first time in 1970 and then in 1986, which was illuminated by diminutive Argentine forward Diego Armando Maradona. The final squad was announced on May 31.

Mexico would be making their 18th appearance in the tournament, with the 18th edition being this summer’s World Cup.

Tournament Appearances: 18 (1930, 1950, 1954, 1958, 1962, 1966, 1970, 1978, 1986, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022, and as co-hosts in 2026).

Best results: Quarter-finals  in 1970 and 1986—both times when Mexico served as the tournament host.

Inaugural Match: Mexico played France on July 13, 1930, in the very first match of the inaugural World Cup. Hosting Milestones: Mexico is the first country to be selected to host or co-host the tournament three separate times (1970, 1986, and 2026).
