“The law is the law”, President Mahama posits despite Asake’s plea.

 

President John Mahama has said that due process will be followed in the case of a man known as Cyborg, who was detained for firing a celebratory shot into the air during a meeting with Nigerian music sensation Asake earlier this week.For his crime, Cyborg was taken into custody on December 29.

After being taken into custody, Asake made an effort to appeal for him during a later meeting with the President, begging him to temper justice with compassion and pointing out that the pistol was fired in the heat of the moment.
On December 30, the encounter took place in Accra, on the fringes of the Supercar Spectacle Sponsors Appreciation celebration.

During the event, President Mahama was welcomed by Asake and members of his entourage.When reminded of the incident during the exchange, President Mahama inquired, “Is he the one the guy fired the gun for? ” to which the audience answered in the affirmative.

The President concluded by saying, “And he ended up in trouble,” which caused the room to burst with laughter. The appeal was acknowledged by President Mahama, but he insisted that due process must take precedence.

“Don’t give it any thought, the law is the law”, President Mahama intimated. The music celebrity performed at the AfroFuture Festival after arriving in the nation a few days earlier.
