The Oyarifa District Police Command has apprehended a 40-year-old man in relation to a defilement case involving a nine-year-old girl.
According to a police statement issued on Thursday, March 19, the suspect, Pastor Paul Kofi Annan of Chosen Breed Gospel International Ministry, and a carpenter residing at Adenta Commandos were arrested on March 17, 2026, following a complaint by the complainant.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect, who is the victim’s stepfather, has been living with the complainant since 2023 and officially married her on February 20, 2026.
Per the police narrative, the victim informed her grandfather during a visit to Cape Coast that the suspect sexually abused her repeatedly for approximately three years, including forcing her to have sexual intercourse and engaging in other acts of sexual misconduct whenever the complainant was not at home.
Further investigation revealed that the offender had threatened the victim with death, stating, “I will kill you if you tell anybody about this,” in order to prevent her from reporting the attacks to anybody.
The suspect was apprehended and cautioned and is now in police custody, helping with investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command assured the public of its dedication to safeguarding youngsters and urged parents and guardians to report any concerns of abuse or threats to the police for fast action.
