The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwadaso, Eric Asibey, has warned residents and commercial operators against indiscriminate waste dumping, saying offenders will be prosecuted under existing environmental bye-laws.
The warning follows the clearance of a long-standing refuse dump at Ohwimase, near the local market and Apatrapa Basic School, which had posed health risks to residents for nearly eight months.
Speaking to Adom News, Mr Asibey said the Municipal Assembly was compelled to intervene after a private waste management company contracted to manage the site failed to carry out its responsibilities.
The Assembly subsequently cleared and disinfected the area as part of broader efforts to improve sanitation across the municipality.
