According to the FRSC, the key reasons for the accident, which include speeding and illegal overtaking, are serious traffic offenses that continue to be one of the top causes of fatal road accidents on Nigerian roadways.
Officials have not revealed who was driving the car in which Joshua was riding.
Joshua could not be reached for comment right away.

Joshua, the son of British-Nigerian parents, was born in Britain and attended a boarding school in Ikenne, Nigeria, before returning to Britain at the age of 12.
The accident occurred just over a week after he knocked out American social media sensation Jake Paul in the sixth round of a battle in Miami.

Paul offered his sympathy in a X post on Monday, saying he was praying for the dead, AJ, and everyone affected by today’s tragic tragedy.
Joshua was making his comeback to the ring after a 15-month break. He is slated to face old foe and fellow Briton Tyson Fury in 2026.
